I talked with the guys that stripped my hood hinges and they suggested I try the paint store for something stronger. After calling the paint supply store, they told me the Aircraft Paint Remover <em>was<\/em> the stronger stuff there was.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-349\" title=\"Pink Grill Before Strip Job\" src=\"http:\/\/www.my55chevybelair.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/pink-be-gone-pre-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/my55chevybelair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/pink-be-gone-pre-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/my55chevybelair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/pink-be-gone-pre.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The secret to getting a good strip job was to hit it when the stripper was still moist and working. I was leaving it to dry which allowed it to not work as efficiently. So I tried this one more time. I brushed the stripper on <em>really<\/em> thick and after about 30 minutes I hit it with the\u00a0pressure washer. To my surprise, the paint was just falling off!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-350\" title=\"Pink Grill During Paint Removal\" src=\"http:\/\/www.my55chevybelair.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/pink-be-gone-during-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/my55chevybelair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/pink-be-gone-during-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/my55chevybelair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/pink-be-gone-during.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>How pleased I was. This time it worked and the bulk of the pink paint was finally gone! After finishing the wash and then\u00a0blow drying with an air hose, I wire brushed the rest, masked off the\u00a0chrome I didn&#8217;t want to get overspray\u00a0on and painted the front grill from the back and bottom. It looks so much nicer now.
