Sometimes it takes me a while to get things done, but when I start, they really get done. Today it was the removal of the old gas pedal and linkage.<\/p>\n

As you can see from some of the pictures I am posting here, this car was functioning good, but the engineering of the prior restoration wasn’t the greatest. Adding different parts from this and that. Making their own brackets and even tying off stuff (like cables and such) that didn’t work with zip ties. Yes, things were neat and tidy, but that’s not how it is supposed to be.<\/p>\n

So I found an aftermarket gas pedal and throttle cable that is specifically made for Tri-Five Chevys. The parts fit good and the instructions were simple and easy to follow. The fact that the previous owners had a mismatched gas pedal and mounted it inside the car made a small sticking point for the installation. There were no mounting bolts to mount the new pedal on the outside of the firewall where the original one was. I called the company to see if they could tell me the exact bolt size I needed, they gave me the size and soon after the pedal was in.<\/p>\n

The spring is kind of stiff as I have not yet installed the transmission kick-down cable which plays a good size part in holding the throttle spring. More work to come as time permits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
