I’ve been watching the Mecum Auto Auctions on TV for about a year now. So when I heard the 2012 season was starting of in Kissimmee (a little over an hour away from me) I decided to take a road trip. I didn’t take My ’55 Chevy Bel Air, but instead took my daily driver. It was a nice drive down I-4 and when I arrived at Osceola Heritage Park the weather was perfect. Sunny and not too warm, which was good because rain was in the forecast for Friday.<\/p>\n
The lot just inside the front gate was loaded with lots of amazing vehicles. Super Sports, GTX’s, AMX’s, VW’s, Motorhomes and even a completely restored and functioning 1950 Chevrolet Good Humor Ice Cream Truck<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n It seemed like I was there for almost an hour and I hadn’t even left the front lot. I was talking with one of the owners who had his car up for auction when he told me there were over 2,000 cars available on the premises. Since I was only there for the day, I figured I better try and move a little quicker so I can see more than just\u00a0a couple hundred cars.<\/p>\n There were so many different and unique vehicles there, I wanted to see them all. While walking through, I kept saying to myself, “Holy S#!t, there’s a lot of cars here!”. Besides seeing all the cars, I wanted to see some of the action on the auction floor too. Seeing the auction in person is certainly an impressive sight. It gives a whole different\u00a0perspective and now when I watch on TV, I know how they get all those amazing camera angles.<\/p>\n Seeing the Mecum Auto Auction was quite an experience and I would say if it comes to your town, or within a reasonable driving distance, make the effort and check it out.
